The lanes were simply a mess. Sunday is a big family bowling day, all day, and you never know what you are going to get. Our left lane must have had adult straight bowlers on it because the middle was a pool of oil (the ball would stop gripping and slide) and the right lane must have had tots with the bumpers up because it was patchwork of wet streaks and dry spots. We played the highest average team (the 3 men carry 190+ averages) and they must have talked to the desk first because they bowled plastic nearly straight balls all night and cleaned up (straight balls aren't ideal -- they just suck less given the conditions). Two of our bowlers are women/straight bowlers and though one of them [Kerry] had a good night it wasn't enough to salvage the suck that Bob & I laid down. We got swept and lost all 8 points, putting us back at fifth place out of eight.
