Well, lady Justice may be slow but four were jailed in St. Louis for massive fraud. A great start, but we need some individual abusers to be caught and at least fined to make small scale ("vote early and vote often") fraud be perceived as dangerous by small time crooks as well. The jerks who were found guilty were so brazen and sloppy their jail time teaches the same lesson as the TV show "Cops." Namely that if you are wearing shoes and a shirt you aren't doing anything illegal. Some fines are admonishments on small time fraudsters with a little media coverage would go a long way.
The worst thing that could happen? The Count Every Vote Act being passed. The act requires that literally every vote must be counted. To make sure that happens it allows anyone to vote any number of times without any proof they have a right to do so. It was taken apart quite smartly in a recent NRO piece. Like most bad legislation the idea is noble - make voting conditions equal and allow everyone who is eligible to vote to do so with a minimum of paperwork. The quickest way to achieve these goals is to make conditions for voting non existent and the paper trail zero.
As I said after the elections loose voting laws with no punishments encourage "the incentive is to cheat so egregiously it puts their guy outside the margin of lawsuits." Hell, I was talking about the system we already had and not the one CEVA would create. I'm sure Jimmy Carter would endorse either standard, he does seem to so enjoy voting of every kind.
