Power Outage

My power went out just after midnight, eerily the lights and TV dropped out behind me and I was staring at a glowing monitor ($40 Uninterruptable Power Supply). So I shutdown all the computers before the juice could run out and then started looking for a flashlight. The flashlight wasn't where it was supposed to be, so absurdly I had to use a 100W desk lamp (plugged into the UPS) to look for a 5W maglite. The only downside to the UPS is that it beeps loudly so you can't leave it turned on and sleep at the same time. This means that it has to be turned off so when the power does come back on everything plugged into the UPS is still turned off. Things that are plugged into the UPS include an alarm clock and my phone. Oh well, that seemed like a clever idea at the time.
