Hold 'em

I played for the fourth time tonight, and I'm sure who is a more seasoned regular could have ran the table, but damn I love this game. Fifteen dollar buy-in, eight guys. My fortune was loaves and fishes in the first five hands, I doubled my stake and promptly lost most of it trying to drive out some players. With four guys left I was down to five bucks an rallied a bit to three players left. My younger brother with half the pot and me and another guy with a quarter each. As it turns out my brother was dealt a pair of queens, other guy goes all in with crap showing on the table. I was dealt a pair of kings, happiness ensues.

My brother and I did tete-a-tete for about an hour, lots of folds and short bluffing. When one of us were dealt a big hand, the other one would have bigger (and the pots were ginormous either way). Mostly static with the occasional big change in chips.

Once there was only one person left watching we called it a draw and split the pot. Poker is fun, but it isn't a reason to miss the party.

[big thanks to my other little brother who gave nice wooden poker chips to the groomsmen at his wedding last weekend. They feel nice in your hand coming and going. The included card decks are also silk, less remarked but not less remarkable.]
