The Simple Love of Milk

For a weekend post allow me this idle premise - milk rocks.

In this decade beer, bourbon, and gin (my other favorite beverages) have undergone a revolution of acceptance and a recognition of brand difference. Milk is overdue.

If you think that all milk tastes the same then you are either an ignorant wretch or someone that drinks less than whole milk (but I repeat myself). Drinking white water is no way to go through life, son.

Growing up I was not quite a milk snob but I was pretty close - as a youth I would spit out anything that wasn't from the Wawa dairy (back when it was a dairy and not a convenience store). You couldn't put a bowl of Cheerios past me with anything else.

In Massachusetts there are two main choices of dairy, Garelick and Hood. To put it politely, if you like Hood you are of low breeding, have no sense of taste, and have a mother of questionable character. Garelick is the only game in town.

Garelick might be big but there is better. If you want the good shit to drink or make cheese with I have a guy who sells unprocessed and unpasteurized milk. It is completely illegal (you have to buy it for *wink* "non-human consumption" *wink*). And very much worth the token price bump.

[update] I've been called out as a fraud by KZ. He doesn't care for milk-as-milk but is a cheese buff. I was wrong, in Massachusetts you can legally buy raw milk for human consumption but you have to go to the dairies directly.
