My return flight to New England was on US Airways and scheduled to go through Philadelphia. Several weeks ago when I booked the flight, this seemed fine.

In retrospect, flying on an airline that has declared banctrupcy twice in the last two years and is currently asking its employees to take large paycuts to stay afloat probably wasn't the best idea. This is most evident in Philly, where many flights have been delayed and many, many suitcases have been lost due to an extraordinary number of baggage handling employees calling in sick. The airline and unions, however, deny that it's an organized "sick-out." (more here.)

Luckily(so far...), my flight to Philadelphia was very delayed, so now I'm stopping in Charlotte instead. The baggage handlers there have been well-behaved(so far...).

Update: Myflight out of West Palm was delayed 40 minutes, leaving me a short layover. Luckily(?), the flight out of Charlotte has been delayed 35 minutes(so far...) so I won't miss my connecting flight. This trip back has been a series of near-misses, I hope it all works out.

Another Update: Doh, my flight has been delayed another half hour or so. Still, I think that I'll arrive in NH only an hour later than originally planned(through Philly).

Last Update: I arrived in Manchester at 11:15, but wasn't able to get my checked luggage until 12:10. Several flights were diverted to MHT from Boston due the inclement weather and that made a huge mess of things. The drive home sucked, though my Jeep performed admirably on the snowy, unplowed roads. Two days ago I was at the beach on a balmy day.... only to return home to a frozen winter wonderland. Weird, but things could have turned out a lot worse.
